Hi!
So a little about me:
I'm Ciaran I'm aged 29 and I'm from Hastings, UK.
A lot about me:
I was an avid reader from a young age. I have always had a vivid imagination and it worked overtime as a child. I would get immersed in the worlds of Harry Potter, Eragon, Redwall and more. Let alone when I first got a tape with the Artemis Fowl novels, The fantastic Five or even Horrible Henry. I absolutely loved it.
I'm from a relatively big family. As I had 6 siblings growing up. 3 older and 3 younger(it's true i'm the proverbial middle child). One of my most formative experiences is when i would play with my younger siblings or read to them at night. When i read to my younger sisters I didn't read from a book, I would make the stories up myself. They were about a little village of fairies who lived in a harmonious cornucopia, fighting off the threats of the pesky mr crocs... I know, it won't be adapted to a screenplay and winning any oscars anytime soon, but that is one of my most formative experiences that have helped shape my personality and goals.
As i got older I got more into drama and acting I had decided I wanted to become an actor so I auditioned for all the school plays(played Oliver in my year 6 production of Oliver(In which my Gran lovingly came all the way from Scotland to fall asleep during)) and took drama at secondary school. I focused myself into becoming better at acting for many years my love for imagination and story a prevalent motivation for me.
Alongside all of this, I Became first interested in gaming with the release of Pokemon Red. I had loads of games that inspired me growing up: Where in the world in is Carmen Sandiago? Final Fantasy IX, Halo, Fifa, Spider-man, The Lord of the Rings: Battle for MIddle Earth, Yu-gi-oh Tag Force 2, Spyro1,2,3, I could go on...
I have always been very active, I received my black belt in Wado-Ryu Karate aged 17, and enjoy swimming often. I also aim to maintain a healthy social life and like to play DnD where possible and meet friends. I think all game developers need a healthy work/life balance and I try to not constantly be on the PC.
When i was struggling to get into the acting industry, I decided to re-evaluate my passions, see what constructive actions could be pursued. So I decided to go to university and re-train myself to become a games developer. It matches my passion for creating narratives for others, it gives me the opportunity to be creative, It matches my ambitious nature and the opportunity to creative fun and exciting games that i can enjoy and share with others.
Overall, I'm enthusiastic, creatively led and ambitious. I have prior experience working in the production industry working at Thales UK at their Underwater Systems Site in Templecombe UK. The hard skills I have gained whilst attending Falmouth University will sit me in good stead to strive and flourish in my new role.I look forward to being an asset for your company.
